Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida, and other members of the Royal Family met royalists who were waiting for them on a street, after the royals paid their respects to King Rama V on Chulalongkorn Day.

On Friday, Their Majesties marked the death anniversary of King Rama V by laying a wreath at the iconic king’s statue in the Royal Plaza. They then participated in a merit-making ceremony at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.

The route they took to meet the royalists was from the Royal Palace, through Rajdamnoen Road, to the Supreme Court.

Among the royalists was a man who had held up a picture of King Rama IX during the pro-democracy rally in Bangkok on Tuesday. The man was reportedly greeted personally by the King and Queen.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida performed a religious ceremony to make merit on the anniversary of the passing of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on Tuesday at Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall at the Grand Palace.

They were accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, the Princess Rajasarinisiribajra, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, and His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti Sirivibulyarajakumar.

At Sanam Luang just outside the Grand Place, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and his spouse Naraphon presided over the candle lighting ceremony to express gratitude to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on the anniversary of his passing. The House speaker, the president of the Supreme Court, ministers, members of Parliament, members of the Senate, the Bangkok governor, and their spouses, as well as government officials, the private sector and the general public attended the ceremony.

His Majesty the King has declared Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi innocent and reinstated her as Royal Noble Consort (Chao Khun Phra). The King has also returned her Royal insignia and military ranks.

The announcement was made in the Royal Gazette on Thursday (August 29), which also declared that previous announcements were invalid.

His Majesty had stripped Sineenat of all royal positions in October last year for failing to conform with codes of conduct and showing disloyalty to the King.

According to the 2019 announcement, Sineenat had opposed the coronation of Her Majesty the Queen and tried to influence His Majesty into appointing her instead.

Their Majesties were accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebayavadi.

His Majesty also invited 50 monks for an alms offering ceremony at the Grand Palace in accordance with royal tradition every Buddhist Lent Day.

Nation celebrates Queen Suthida’s birthday

Thailand celebrates the royal birthday of Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana on Wednesday (June 3), which is a national holiday.

Her Majesty was granted the royal title of Queen by His Majesty the King on May 1, 2019. Later, on May 4, 2019, a ceremony was held for the royal investiture as HM the Queen.

Early life

The Queen was born on June 3, 1978, at Ban Phru subdistrict, Hat Yai district in Songkhla province in a Chinese-Thai family. Then known as Suthida Tidjai, she attended high school at Hatyai Witthayalai Somboon Kulkanya school. After that, she studied the Bachelor of Communication Arts programme at the Faculty of Communication Arts at Assumption University and graduated in 2000.

After graduation, she became a flight attendant on JAL Airline from 2000 to 2003 and was a flight attendant in Thai Airways from 2003 to 2008, living a normal life.

Later, she entered the military service in the Command Unit, offering security to the King. She rose to the position of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Guard Unit (Special General) and received royal grace to be a royal bodyguard of the Royal Family and many royals.

On May 1, 2019, she got married to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn at Amporn Amphorn Royal Palace, and became Queen Sutida. Later, at the HM Royal Investiture ceremony she became HM Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana.

The 7th Queen of Chakri Dynasty

Queen Sutida is the seventh Queen of the Chakri Dynasty. In chronological order, they are:

▪︎ Queen Somdet Phra Amarindra, in the reign of King Rama I

▪︎ Queen Somdet Phra Sri Suriyendra Boromarajini, in the reign of King Rama II

▪︎ Queen Somdet Phra Debsirindra Boromarajini, in the reign of King Rama IV

▪︎ Queen Somdet Phra Nangchao Indrasakdi Sachi Phra Boromarajini in the reign of King Rama VI

▪︎ Queen Somdet Phra Nangchao Rambai Barni Phra Boromarajini in the reign of King Rama VII

▪︎ Queen Somdet Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat in the reign of King Rama IX

▪︎ Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajarasudha Bimollaksana, in the reign of King Rama X

Under royal custom, only the wife of a King who has had a coronation ceremony can become Queen.

On June 10, 2919, the King issued a royal command to government agencies, civil servants and courtiers in the Department of Business in the Royal Family to directly serve under the Queen. They include:

HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn has sent a telegram of sympathy to President Xi Jinping of China on the epidemic caused by the coronavirus.

In his telegram, the King said he is truly alarmed and deeply concerned by the extent and severity of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. He said the world community cannot but be impressed with the thorough diligence and determination of the Chinese authorities and with the comprehensive measures adopted to combat the scourge. The King affirmed his solidarity with the Chinese people and wished them every success in overcoming the challenge under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

HM presides over military, police parade

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida, along with Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati arrived on Saturday (January 18) at 4pm, at the Cavalry Centre of Adisorn Military Camp in Pak Phriew subdistrict, in the Muang district of Saraburi province, to preside over the oath-taking ceremony and marching of military and police personnel on the occasion of Royal Thai Armed Forces Day and to celebrate the Royal Coronation Ceremony of 2019.

6,812 military and police personnel from 39 divisions nationwide participated in the march parade, including a number of military vehicles and aircraft from the Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Navy and Royal Thai Air Force.
