GMM GRAMMY posted 4.7-per-cent growth in revenue last year to Bt9.704 billion, mainly driven by the music and digital-TV businesses.

However, the country’s largest music and entertainment giant still carries a loss of Bt1.145 billion.

Group chief executive officer Boosaba Daorueng said the music business reported Bt3.252 billion in revenue last year, a rise of 14.4 per cent from 2014, as a result of a reorganisation.

Although the digital-TV business has been facing several challenges, such as regulations and government support that affects advertising spending, the popularity of One 31 and GMM 25 channels has been surging.

Last year, One 31 channel showed significant growth in financial and rating aspects, thanks to its outstanding content, especially prime-time dramas, sitcoms and variety programmes, she said. The channel aims to increase revenue by 80 per cent this year.

At the same time, GMM 25 saw substantial advancement in both revenue and brand awareness during the year.

The channel is continuing to rearrange its scheduling and varying its content.

Banking on such all-time favourites as “Club Friday the Series”, dramas like “O Negative”, variety shows such as “Chae” and “The Red Carpet” and Korea-based programme “M Countdown”, it aims to catch up with new trends. It targets revenue growth of around 85 per cent this year.

The “O Shopping” home-shopping channel posted a solid year-on-year growth of 53 per cent in 2015 to Bt1.738 billion. Sales per day, towards the end of 2015, increased to more than Bt5.5 million with a customer base of more than 900,000.

Last year, GMM Grammy booked several extraordinary items, which were one-time transactions including gains from investment-portfolio restructuring. For instance, it gained Bt959 million from the disposition of its interests in Se-Education and Index Creative Village.

It recorded an impairment loss of Bt1.03 million for pay-TV operator CTH. However, Boosaba said the loss was not counted as a cash item, so it did not have any negative impact on the company’s liquidity.
