SAMART Corp group plans to establish a presence in Myanmar and Vietnam through two subsidiaries, Samart i-Mobile (SIM) and One to One Contacts (OTO), said a Samart source.
OTO filed to the Stock Exchange of Thailand of Friday its board’s resolution to establish a joint-venture company, MyanOne Co, in Myanmar by November to provide contact-centre services.
The joint venture will have initial registered capital of US$50,000 (about Bt1.75 million). OTO will own 60 per cent of the company, while its Myanmar partner Solutions Hub will hold the rest.
Sukanya Vanichjakvong, One to One Contact’s director, said Solutions Hub was a provider of information-technology services in Myanmar.
She said this investment by OTO was part of the Samart group’s plan to expand into the regional market and that the overall plan would be announced next month. She declined to elaborate.
Sukanya, who is also president of SIM, said that subsidiary planned to foray into Myanmar and Vietnam, but again she declined to provide details.
According to the Samart source, SIM will set up a joint venture with a Vietnamese company. The source added that Samart planned to seek more revenue from international markets amid the economic downturn in Thailand.
