PHYATHAI 2 International Hospital yesterday announced the launch of its Paediatric Care Centre to cater to the rising demand for child-care services in Thailand and elsewhere in Asean – and the markets of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), in particular.
The new development will support the hospital’s expansion into the Asean Economic Community (AEC) market via a collaborative referral system with hospitals in nearby countries. Hospital executive director Dr Anantasak Apairatana said the outlook after the overall performance of Phyathai 2 International Hospital in the first half of the year was promising, with revenue having increased 9.6 per cent to Bt1.8 billion, against Bt1.63 billion posted for the same period last year.
“To support customers’ needs in the rapidly increasing healthcare market, the hospital has improved its medical services and standard to get ready for an expansion in the volume of patients. We have just launched the Phyathai 2 Paediatric Centre to provide service excellence, including better examination rooms, paediatricians and nurses,” he said.
Anantasak added that the overall number of outpatient and inpatient customers at Phyathai 2 in the first half of the year was 301,428 and 31,077, respectively. This equates to around 2,000 patients per day, of whom about 300 were seen by paediatric staff each day.
“The proportion of patients at our Paediatric Centre is 85 per cent Thais and 15 per cent foreigners, mostly from Asian countries and Oman. We target expanding the foreign-patient ratio to 50 per cent in the next five years,” the executive director said.
Newborn to 15-year-olds
Phyathai 2’s Paediatric Centre will focus on treating newborns through to 15-year-olds, from both Thailand and abroad.
The hospital also provides special medical treatment for children with critical injuries and in need of intensive care, via an advanced referral system covering the Kingdom.
“We will also support the transferred admission of international children who need constant intensive treatment through our 24-hour Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The number of patients in this category is gradually increasing,” he said.
The key factors driving the formation of Phyathai 2’s Paediatric Care Centre are its prime location at the centre of Bangkok, highly experienced physicians and comprehensive advanced-technology equipment and facilities, plus the hospital’s certification, including the JCI (Joint Connection International) standard, he explained.
“Demand keeps growing, and we have in fact already accessed the AEC market. I believe foreign customers trust and have confidence in our physicians to provide them with effective treatment for complicated diseases. “For example, we are famous among Cambodian patients for heart operations, and among Middle Eastern patients for genetics and bone-marrow transplants,” Anantasak said.
Phyathai 2 Paediatric Centre offers a highly experienced medical team of physicians and nurses who are specially trained to care for children via a one-stop service, with the care including treatment for newborns, cardiology, bone-marrow transplantation, child development, child and adolescent mental health, allergies and respiratory ailments, he said.
The centre is equipped with advanced equipment and facilities, such as clean room, separate well-baby zone from the disease-examination zone, breastfeeding room and children’s playground to ensure the highest standard of service, the easing of concern and tension among parents, and increased customer satisfaction, he added.
