Total Access Communication (Dtac) is selling its smartphones and tablets via Lazada, under the “Shop in Shop” marketing concept.
The new e-commerce channel will start tomorrow, having more than 100 items on offer. As a promotional gift, the first 99 units of Dtac Phone M1 will be available at the price of Bt99. At present, Dtac has its own online store.
“E-commerce in Thailand is rapidly expanding, and there are many new and old players offering new products and services to meet the diverse and fast-changing lifestyles of consumers,” said Piero Trivellato, senior vice president, Head of Digital Services Division.
Lazada offers safe payment methods including credit card payment and Cash on Delivery.
Dtac estimated that Thailand’s e-commerce market is valued at more than Bt2.1 trillion and it has grown by 20 per cent over the past year.
The company has invested about Bt30 million a year on its e-commerce system and services, as well as promotions throughout the year. In 2015, its e-commerce saw a 100 per cent growth compared to the previous year.
“Most of our online shoppers are between 25-34 years old. We keep track of Dtac online store customers, and from that information, we notice that most of them (90 per cent) purchase smartphones, 5 per cent buy tablets, and 5 per cent buy 4G devices and accessories. These numbers indicate that consumers are now more inclined to online shopping,” said Trivellato
This partnership between dtac and Lazada is expected to double its sales and expand online shopping customer base to 25 million users by 2017.
