MORE than 350 Asian chief executives and politicians will convene in Bangkok at the “Horasis Asia Meeting” from November 27 to 28 to discuss opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for Asia.
The international business conference, one of the foremost annual gatherings of Asian business leaders of the year, is also timely as Asia looks ahead to working with US president-elect Donald Trump.
Dr Frank-Juergen Richter, chairman of Horasis, a think-tank based in Switzerland, said the meeting would engage participants to provide a holistic and timely perspective on the future direction for Asia.
The event will also help define Thailand’s economic growth agenda, using the Kingdom as a springboard for global investments.
Co-chairing the Bangkok meeting at Shangri-La Hotel will be Lito Camacho, vice chairman for Asia-Pacific at Credit Suisse in Singapore, and Anson Chan, chairwoman of the Bonds Group of Companies in Hong Kong, among others.
Among the leaders scheduled to speak at the event are Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, as well as Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of the Indian state of West Bengal.
The event is supported by the Thai government and Bangkok-based Sittipol Holdings.
The agenda comprises issues important to the future of Asia including growth, youth development, venture capital, branding, trust building, technology disruption, innovation and education, and leadership.
There will be more than 30 topic sessions at the conference.
“Writing one of the greatest economic comeback stories in recent years, Thailand is prepared to be one of the strongest-performing Asian economies in the years to come,” Richter said.
“Located at the centre of Asean and representing its second-largest economy, Thailand is the ideal location to advance the region’s economic, political and social agenda.”
