Thailand’s newly amended Sports Doping Control Act of 2012 was published in the Royal Gazette on Friday in line with requirements set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

WADA slapped Thailand with many prohibitions on January 1, 2021, for failing to adjust its “out-of-date” anti-doping law and bringing it in line with the international 2021 Anti-Doping Code.
If the law had not been amended, Thailand would be disqualified from hosting international competitions, have trouble sending Thai athletes to games overseas and worst of all, not be able to fly the national flag at tournaments.
The Cabinet on Tuesday approved an executive decree for the law to be immediately amended in line with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT)’s proposal.
SAT governor Gongsak Yodmani said on December 22 that WADA was satisfied with the draft amendment.
