The first issue for the panel, headed by Maejo University’s former rector Anon Thiangtrong, is to tackle financial matters to ensure the salary payment system runs normally.

After the panel’s meeting yesterday, Anon said the university council assigned acting rector Mathana Santiwat to select candidates from outside to be appointed as rector deputies and assistants so all posts should be filled with qualified candidates within one week.

The matter would then be tabled to the committee’s next meeting before a proposal is put to Education Minister Dapong Ratanasuwan.

Anon said that Mathana also was assigned to solve various issues at the university especially finance, to ensure the institute’s smooth operation and that all personnel were paid.

He said it was fortunate that they had Mathana, a former rector of private university herself, to be in this top position, as she had a good understanding of a private institute.

During the meeting yesterday, former acting rector Sudhiporn Patumtaewapibal had his representative submit documents of work that had been done while he was acting rector of Abac. Some 30 Abac executives were also invited to listen to the policy and work guidelines from the new acting rector, Anan said.
