Anon will also serve as president of the university’s council, Education Minister Dapong Ratanasuwan said.

The management conflict, which erupted last year, led Dapong to signing a ministerial order on Friday that places the university under the temporary control of the Office of Higher Education Commission (Ohec).

The other panel members include former Thammasat rector Surapol Nitikraipoj; King Mongkut’s University of Technology former dean Thonburi Booncharoen Sirinaovakul; Ohec deputy secretary-general Soranit Siltharm; and the dean of Kasetsart University’s Business Administration Faculty Sasivimol Meeampol.

The other panel members are Thammasat University law lecturer Supa Julanapan; Chulalongkorn University law lecturer Manit Jumpa; ex-deputy education minister Krissanapong Kirtikara; and Education Ministry deputy permanent secretary Suphat Champatong.

The panel’s secretary position will be held by the director of Ohec’s Bureau of Cooperation and Promotion, while two Ohec officials will be secretary assistants.

Abac has 30 days to appeal this decision directly to the education minister.
