A tour bus carrying 19 Chinese tourists reportedly had a brake malfunction while going downhill and crashed into a power pole in tambon Patong of Phuket’s Kathu district on Monday night, resulting in the Thai bus driver’s death and minor injuries to several tourists.
Following the accident report at 8.45pm on Monday, police went to inspect the scene and found bus driver Jeerasak Kimbuathong, 41, wedged in the wrecked front part of the bus. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. The crash, which destroyed a power pole, also caused a blackout in Muang Patong Municipality.
