A 500-strong team of security officers and administrative officials yesterday searched for illegal items within the 10,000-rai plantation in tambon Plai Phraya, which had been occupied since November 2013 by the demonstrators calling for land allocation.

The authorities had cracked down on the settlers twice before but they kept returning resulting in continuous violence in the area, an informed source reported.
