FAMILY AFFAIRS
The founder of a well-known chilli-paste brand, Maepranom, has not dropped court cases against her eldest daughter whom she alleged had taken control of the family business and estate, a lawyer said yesterday.
Pranom said on Tuesday she had settled the dispute with Siriporn Daengsupha, her daughter, and would withdraw all cases levelled against her.
Pisit Chutipornpongchai, the lawyer, said both mother and daughter had reached an understanding – but Pranom has not removed court action because she feared her daughter might not keep her promises.
She had asked her daughter to return shares of the chili paste company, a plot of land in Khao Yai and at Nong Khaem area, which she regarded as her most treasured assets.
She also wanted her daughter to pay debts incurred from her purchase of a plot of 1 rai land to establish a restaurant in Thawee Wattana district, worth Bt20 million.
Pranom also demanded Siriporn provide a monthly upkeep of Bt1 million. She would withdraw all court cases if all her demands were met.
Pisit said sales of the chili paste had plummeted during the family feud as it widely captured public and media attention. He said he was still waiting for Siriporn to contact him about meeting the demands.
Pranom refused to give media interviews about the court cases.
Pisit said Pranom had not decided to return to live with her daughter as she felt she might not feel comfortable as she had earlier.
