Police yesterday objected to the temporary release of Sirichai Burinkot, 30, who was accused of launching a gun attack against a family of four in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Muang district on Monday night.
In the attack, Suthep Rodsuk, 29, and his two-year-old child Narongrit were killed, though his wife Wasana Sopin, 26, and daughter Wipat, 7, managed to get away despite being injured and hid in a wooded area for eight hours. Provincial Governor Siripat Pattanakul visited the survivors at Maharat Hospital yesterday. Wasana, whose knee was wounded, is awaiting surgery, while Wipat is still in critical condition due to a swollen brain, hospital director Dr Songkiat Lektrakul said.
Sirichai was charged with premeditated murder and attempted murder but has maintained his innocence.
