POLICE ARE considering the option of filing an additional charge against a second girl who was at the scene where six young men killed a disabled delivery man in Bangkok’s Chokchai 4 area May 1.
So far, police are unable to say if additional charges will be filed pending witness interviews and gathering more evidence, Chairob said.
He added that police have not been able to find enough evidence to prosecute the girl, whom police have made a witness. The victim’s family, however, wants her to be charged because they allege that she was involved in the attack.
A source said the girl, who is the girlfriend of the older brother of one of the suspects, had gone to hospital to visit a wounded suspect, Peerapol Yospong-anan, but ran into the victim’s family, resulting in an argument. She was accompanied by another girl who is being charged with verbally threatening the family.
Meanwhile, the bread shop that belonged to the victim’s relatives opened for the first time since the attack yesterday.
A regular customer, schoolteacher Thipaporn Pummala, said she was saddened by the attack and she considered the victim, Somkiat Srijan, to be a hardworking family man. She added that she wanted to help the business in the hope that it would benefit Somkiat’s two sons.
