AFTER ACHIEVING success in producing audio books for the visually impaired for four years, Nation Radio FM90.5 and its allies launched the fifth “Nation Digital Voice Year” digital sound library project on Tuesday.
This project is hosted by Nation Radio FM90.5, Working Station Radio FM102, Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under the royal patronage of HM the Queen, the Thailand Caulfield Foundation for the Blind under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The launch, held at the Foundation for the Blind headquarters, was attended by related executives, Nation TV anchors and hosts, KPN-award artists Anurak “Bom” Boonpurmpoon and Thanyapat “Ploy” Sirichote as well as students from the Bangkok School for the Blind.
Khunying Uraiwan Sirinupong, chairperson of the Foundation for the Blind, said the past four projects have provided educational opportunities and boosted the morale of the students, ensuring they get a wider perspective through the audio books that volunteers had sacrificed their time and energy to make. She said these books helped the children keep pace with the changing world.
As the project is a proven success and has helped provide education, Nation Radio audiences and sponsors want to see the project continue. Nation Broadcasting Corporation president Adisak Limprungpatanakij said Nation Radio had this year added many books authored by His Majesty the King, as well as short stories and creative novels to the sound library this year.
Charkrit Direkwattanachai, head of Tesco Lotus’s Corporate Communications and Sustainability, said the company has been supporting the project from the very first year and considered audio books as useful in providing knowledge, ideas and inspiration for listeners and also helps people learn correct pronunciation and the importance of reading out loud.
Other than launching the sound library project, the event also included a scholarship conferring ceremony, a musical talent show and performances by the KPN artists.
Those interested in helping with the audio books can apply until August 31 at Nation Radio, 12 floor Interlink Building in Bangkok’s Bang Na district. Applicants can call (02) 338 3681-2 to book a recording session Monday-Friday from 9am to 6pm. Visit http://www.facebook.com/nationradiofanpage for more details.
