Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has invoked his power as the junta chief to appoint police inspector general Pol General Chaiya Siri-amphankul as the new secretary general of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO).
The appointment was announced in the Royal Gazette yesterday.
Prayut invoked Article 44 of the interim charter to in his capacity as National Council for Peace and Order head to make the appointment on ground that the normal selection process of the new AMLO chief would be too time consuming.
