The case against 10 defendants including two companies over the faulty fire-security system at Siam Commercial Bank headquarters in Bangkok that allegedly led to eight deaths has reached court.
Along with the eight deaths, seven people were seriously injured.
Mega Planet Co, which SCB contracted to carry out fire-system improvements, and the building’s manager, Jones Lang LaSalle Management Co, are being prosecuted alongside eight individuals for alleged recklessness leading to the tragedy.
The defendants include Mega Planet executives Napong Suksanguan and Adisorn Foda, as well as an engineer from the company, Jirawat Prempree. JLL executive Somkid Tan-ngarm is also being prosecuted.
The defendants were released on Bt500,000 bail each yesterday.
The court is scheduled to hear their statements on Tuesday, and the evidence examination is scheduled for August 29.
In 2015, a fire at SCB headquarters killed a fireman.
