About 1,700 people on probation for drunk driving visited morgues to see victims of fatal accidents and to perform social services at 47 hospitals nationwide from April 21 until June 20, Probation Department deputy chief Prasarn Mahaleetrakul said yesterday.
While taking 100 drunk-driving offenders to visit Bangkok’s Taksin Hospital morgue yesterday, Prasan said many road accidents stemmed from drunk driving. The punishment of taking the offenders to visit morgues and serve accident victims in hospitals was to boost their awareness of the consequences of bad driving habits.
