THE Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has seized four bank accounts linked to Dhammakaya Temple’s controversial abbot Phra Dhammachayo and the temple’s foundation containing some Bt50 million, a senior official said on Saturday.

AMLO secretary general Chaiya Siri-ampankul said that the confiscation resulted from a money-laundering and embezzlement case initiated by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) against the monk and others.

The DSI wanted the AMLO to search for billions of baht embezzled from members of the Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative, Chaiya said.
