Central Investigation Bureau’s Economic Crime Suppression Division officers yesterday nabbed two men suspected of producing counterfeit jeans for sale, the division’s deputy chief Pol Colonel Sitthichai Leelasawat told the press yesterday.
Naris Samranreun, 23, and Bulakorn Onpradit, 42, are allegedly the owners of two houses in tambon Sao Thong Hin of Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district that had been raided on Monday. Police found many pairs of counterfeit jeans and parts worth Bt7.148 million, and the duo were charged of possessing fake goods with the intention to sell.
Bulakorn reportedly confessed that he and a few accomplices manufactured the jeans for a Malaysian investor, who also required them to attach brand-name logos on the products. He said the investor bought 3,000 pairs per month at the price of Bt240 per pair. Since it cost Bt180 to produce each pair, they earned Bt60 for every item sold, he said. Police claim he has confessed to producing these jeans for two years now.
