Park officials raided two major resorts found to be encroaching into Khao Laem National Park in Kanchanaburi province yesterday as part of the special taskforce Phaya Sua’s ongoing operation to suppress park encroachment operations by influential figures.
Using the technology of satellite-detection via GPS, the team led by Chaiwat Limlikhit-aksorn found that over 30 properties part of the two resorts are encroaching into the park. Initial checks on the owners of the properties showed that one might be owned by a general and the other by a local teacher. However, nobody showed up and claimed ownership, after which the officials filed a complaint with the police for further investigation.
Earlier, the special taskforce along with a Khao Laem National Park team led by chief Taywin Meesap raided a Buddhist monastery that was allegedly linked with famous former monk Yantra, who is fleeing charges. The team has seized nearly 100 rai of encroaching land in this two-day operation.
