THE BODY of a 24-year-old female factory worker was found yesterday morning at an empty plot in Soi Sakae Ngam 26 (Yaek 1) in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thien district.
Police suspect the motive for the killing was a personal conflict possibly stemming from a romantic affair, as the victim was spotted riding as a passenger on a Myanmar co-worker’s motorcycle after finishing the noon-8pm shift the previous night.
After the 6am report of the body’s discovery at the 20-rai (3.2-hectare) plot, Pol Major Thanongsak Phetchprakob of Samaedam Police Station inspected the crime scene, which is 400 metres from the top of the soi.
Durian Rodkhamtui had a deep cut to the throat and three stab wounds in the chest and stomach. Her clothes were scattered nearby.
Police found traces of blood along a 300-metre stretch towards the top of the soi.
Jitthip Phromsurin, deputy chairwoman of the Wat Sakae Ngam community, said she was riding a bicycle at about 5.45am yesterday when she spotted the body behind a barbed-wire fence and alerted police.
Police learned Durian had an argument on Facebook with the above-mentioned Myanmar co-worker identified only as Min, who has an eight-months-pregnant Myanmar wife, an informed source reported.
Metropolitan Area 9 deputy chief Pol Colonel Pong-anan Klaikleung said police suspected the murder took place at the scene, judging by the large amount of blood found there, and involved more than one assailant.
Police are waiting for the autopsy results to see if she was sexually assaulted. Police believe the culprit(s) might have removed her clothes after she was murdered as an insult brought on by a personal grudge.
