They submitted a petition yesterday with the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) over the alleged faulty gear system of the vehicles and then lodged a complaint with the Consumer Protection Police Division’s commander, Maj-General Prasert Pattanadee.

Channarong Chuchuay, one of the complainants, said he bought his car in 2013 and has since had its gear system repaired six |times. “Following the repairs, the same old problem has recurred,” he said.

Channarong demanded that Ford replace the vehicle with a new one and compensate him too.

Prasert promised to look into the complaint. He said police would interview the complainants and probably Ford representatives too.

The division’s inspector, Lt-Colonel Namchai Yokyongkul, said police would check Ford’s advertising material for the vehicles and have the vehicles examined by experts.

“If the flaw affects safety, it is possible for the OCPB to order Ford to recall the vehicles,” he said.
