Phetchabun provincial governor Bundit Theeveethivarak has ordered officers to file police complaints against four leaders of Hmong protesters for allegedly obstructing officials who were demolishing 19 resorts in the popular tourist destination Phu Thap Boek.
Colonel Pongpetch Kesupa, an operational officer with Phetchabun Internal Security Operations Command, and Chit Intranok, a senior official with the Royal Forest Department, filed the complaints against Pornchai Banchasawan, Piyawat Saetao, Mongkol Taoraktrakul and Khanaan resort owner Patcharapol Songsatparinyawong at the Lom Kao Police Station on Tuesday.
The four are accused of leading an August 20 protest and blocking an intersection in Tambon Wang Ban, which resulted in demolition operations stopping.
Demolition of the 19 resorts on Phu Thap Boek was ordered under the interim charter’s all-powerful Article 44 to address land encroachment in Phetchabun province.
