A MAN from Pattani was apprehended yesterday on suspicion of being involved in arson and bomb attacks in Trang two weeks ago, a source said yesterday.
Security officials previously reviewed CCTV footage and issued sketches of two of four suspects believed to have been involved in the attacks.
The man is being detained at a military camp in Nong Chik district for questioning and police are expected to issue a warrant for his arrest in two days.
Deputy National Police chief Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul will today seek approval from the military court for arrest warrants for two other suspects believed to be involved in the bomb attacks in Hua Hin after finding evidence on CCTV cameras.
Srivara serves as chief investigator in charge of investigating the bomb attacks in Hua Hin and six southern provinces.
Meanwhile, security agencies issued a warning to state agencies in the three deep South border provinces to be vigilant against insurgents after intelligence officials received reports about a planned assault on monks in the three region.
Intelligence officials also said that 700 Malaysian flags would be smuggled into Thailand to mark the anniversary of the setting up of the insurgent group Bersatu on Wednesday, which is also Malaysia’s National Day.
