THOUSANDS of members of the public are already taking an opportunity to contribute to a book featuring a key chapter about His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej via social media channels.
As the nation mourns its beloved monarch, the Culture Ministry has invited people to submit photos or video recordings of historical events or incidents that took place from October 13, the day the king passed away at the age of 89.
“We are preparing to publish a book featuring a historical chapter. It’s a record about His Majesty in his people’s memories,” Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat said yesterday.
“We are also working on a documentary about the King”.
Vira said his ministry had already received more than 7,000 entries from keen contributors.
People interested in contributing could upload photos and video recordings on Facebook: pic.culture 2559 and LINE: Line : Pic.Culture/
Vira said contributors should specify where and when the photos or video clips were recorded.
Since Thursday, the country has become a sea of black and white, as the King’s loyal subjects don sombre colours to mourn his passing.
People have flocked to the Grand Palace, where his body lies, day and night in a display of love and loyalty.
They have stayed put, rain or shine, in long lines in front of the palace for an opportunity to go inside between 8.30am and 4pm so that they can lay prostrate before his official portrait and sign their farewell messages to the beloved Monarch. Even when the doors to the Grand Palace closed, people continue to sit outside and pray in large numbers.
