TOURISM IN Thailand will continue as usual although the authorities have asked for cooperation from business operators to refrain from entertainment activities like dancing and concerts for at least the first 30 days
after the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Deputy Prime Minister General Thanasak Patimapragorn said yesterday.
Thanasak said that tourism in Thailand had other aspects including health and culture and these they could be promoted to welcome tourists to the country.
He said the Department of Tourism had prepared black ribbon pins at airports to give to tourists so they could join the rest of the country in mourning.
Tomorrow, a meeting of related agencies will be held to discuss details for organising traditional events such as the Loy Krathong Festival. Thanasak said that it was understood that Loy Krathong could be held for people to place floral floats to worship the Goddess of the River but the usual beauty contests on the occasion would be cancelled.
