As Laos hosts the Asean Summit in September, car manufacturing companies from the Asean and Asean+3 nations will also be invited to display their products at the expo.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Director General of the Trade and Product Promotion Department under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Somvang Ninthavong, said the expo, titled ‘Better Trade, Better Technology’ will invite various automobile companies in Asean to participate.

“Domestic customers will have more options when buying a car and it will enable us to avoid a market monopoly,” he said, adding that the expo will help to drive business integration in the region and push Lao entrepreneurs onto the international stage.

Somvang said there will also be a seminar to share information technologies in the car industry, which will allow buyers and sellers to meet each other. The expo will be co-organised by the Trade and Product Promotion Department and PP Xaiyo Entertainment and Event Organiser.

A representative from the company said the event will be the biggest ever automobile expo in Laos. The vehicles on display will range from motorbikes to luxury cars and car accessories.

“I believe that this will enable us to raise the profile of our country and promote the image of Laos on the international stage,” he said.
