Ninety-nine representatives from eight hilltribes gathered in front of the Chiang Rai City Hall yesterday to start their sponsored journey to the Grand Palace in Bangkok so they can pay respect to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Royal Urn. They will first board a bus from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai, before boarding a Bangkok-bound train.

The group was seen off yesterday by deputy Chiang Rai governor Sakchai Wongkanit. The representatives come from the Karen, Hmong, Mien (or Yao), Lahu, Lisu, Akha, Lua and Khmu tribes.
