THE BANGKOK Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s new executive team has prepared policies that will be announced next month, according to officials.
Pol General Aswin Kwanmuang officially replaced MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra as Bangkok’s governor on October 18. Four days later, he appointed four deputies – Pol Lt-General Amnuay Nimmano, Jakkapan Phiewngarm, Wanwilai Promlakkhano and Taweesak Lertpraphan.
The new BMA executive team has six policies ready for implementation, according to a source. The goals are:
Keeping the capital clean by improving garbage collection and waste-disposal methods. Repairing footpaths and making them easier to use. Cleaning canals. Ensuring good governance and transparency.
Expediting the improvement of water-drainage systems, traffic infrastructure and “monkey cheeks” flood-mitigation systems.
Installing more security cameras and boosting public safety.
Improving the quality of life in the capital and implementing the sufficiency economy philosophy by improving BMA-run schools, community libraries and BMA health services.
Encouraging public participation in several causes such as expanding mangrove forests to prevent coastal erosion.
Bringing BMA services up to international standards as district offices improve IT systems and services.
