A special entry point has been opened for the elderly and handicapped to attend the royal funeral at the Grand Palace.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) spokesperson Tridao Aphaiwong revealed yesterday that the joint peace-maintaining command centre, Social Development and Human Security Ministry, and BMA have set up the special entrance for seniors and the physically challenged so they can pay respects before the King’s urn.
Tridao said three groups of people can use this special pathway to the Throne Hall: people over 80 years old, those who are younger than 80 but physically frail, and people with disabilities who have a valid (PWD) ID card to verify that.
These three groups are allowed to be accompanied by two other people and there will be officers on hand to push wheelchairs.
Five people with special needs can enter the Grand Palace per round, with food, drinks and special toilets available.
Tridao also suggested that people with chronic diseases should write down their medical information on a note, and list any allergies, plus contact numbers in case of an emergency.
