SEVERAL groups – including political parties – will be invited for talks on reconciliation next month, said Peerasak Porjit, vice president of the National Legislative Assembly yesterday.
Peerasak, part of the new reconciliation preparation committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, said Prawit wished to see the reconciliation work expedited and achieve success as soon as possible.
Because if it fails, it could affect the efforts on other works including reform, he said.
He said concerned groups – at least six or seven of them – would be invited to talk on issues of importance for the country to help solve the matters by finding a common ground to move the nation forward together. Major points of difference, including the amnesty issue, will not be discussed during the meetings, he said.
Suvit Maesincee, secretary of the newly introduced super committee of administration for reform, reconciliation and national strategy, said the groups would be invited to help tackle the country’s issues so that they could see the future together, rather than discuss their problems. The discussion of unlawful subjects and the amnesty issue will not be allowed, he said.
Suvit said the National Reform Steering Assembly, the National Legislative Assembly and the government would meet on Wednesday to look at the reform efforts to fine-tune and prioritise them with the reconciliation preparation committee. If possible, they would be invited to serve as a working group under the committee, he said.
