Observers have questioned the real benefits from the course with some citing alleged personal gains with some attendees using it to build contacts with private entities.

The Constitution Drafting Commission is also considering addressing the prohibition of such activities in the new organic laws concerning independent agencies.

It has already addressed such the ban in the Election Commission draft bill.

Somchai Ngamwongchon, the Administrative Court’s spokesperson said on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the courts’ opening, which ends tomorrow, that President of the Supreme Administrative Court has been mindful about the public sentiment and has instructed the two courts to suspend the courts’ special courses for two years.

Somchai said the courts are not concerned about the economic benefits the courses would return as they actually do not cost much, but the courts realise that the academic benefits from them are still unclear.
