The first four “herbal based cities”, including Prachi Buri where the well known herbal based treatment hospital Abhiaibhujebhr is located would be developed to demonstrate the new business model, which is part of Thailand 4.0, the country’s new economic model based on technology and innovation.
The plan, as revealed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha during his inspection trip to Prachin Buri today, would be completed within the next five years.
The other three provinces are Chiang Rai, Surat Thani, and Sakon Nakorn. The goal is for leveling up herbal based public healthcare, he said.
The government is ambitious to turn some areas to become the herbal development hubs as part of its new economic model Thailand 4.0. It has drawn the national master plan on herbal-based healthcare development with four main strategies set.
These include promoting Thai herbs, developing herbal based medicines, promoting uses of Thai herbal medicines, and strengthening concerned policies to support the development.
So far, at least four Thai herbs have been chosen as the flagships or product champions. They are Cassumunar ginger, yellow ginger, finger roots, and Gotu Kola.
