The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will make the open statement on the case of former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul before the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) next Thursday.
The NLA on Thursday rejected Surapong’s request to submit additional five sets of documentary evidence and decided also not to set up a panel to gather evidence or summarise the case.
The legislators said Surapong was the only individual accused in the case and the matter should not be too complicated.
The former foreign minister has been accused by the NACC of negligence and serious violation of the civil servant’s code of conduct by issuing a passport for fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2011.
The case was forwarded to the NLA to rule whether or not to impeach Surapong.
