The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) will reconvene on Tuesday after a month of inactivity in its big chamber.
The NRSA last met on February 21. As the Assembly usually convenes twice a week, on Mondays and Tuesdays, it has now skipped eight big-chamber meetings in a row.
The NRSA said suspension of the big meetings, where it discusses and passes reform plans as well as related draft bills, was to allow its members to work in the their committees and sub-panels.
Alongkorn Ponlaboot, the NRSA chairman, told The Nation that the NRSA members, who receive the monthly salary of more than Bt100,000, never ceased working even if they did not assemble in the chamber.
He said the NRSA was making adjustments in preparation of integration of its work with the new super-committee established by junta head Prayut Chan-o-cha that also deals with reform and national strategy.
Tuesday’s agenda will include consideration of approaches to deal with the 27 urgent reform points to be completed this year.
In addition, the NRSA will also consider “tools for fundamental development”, which include fundamental finance, social enterprises, and land banks.
