The Prayut Chan-o-cha government this week asked the Revenue Department to collect the tax, which could amount to Bt16 billion, from Thaksin over the controversial sale of Shin Corp in 2006.
Yingluck accused the junta of “hounding” her family, saying the law should not be enforced indiscriminately or used as a tool to hound one side.
“We don’t want to hear about the ‘miracle of law’ but [we want] an enforcement of law with honesty and justice,” she said.
Yingluck said the tax issue undercut the junta’s attempt to bring about reconciliation in the country.
“I don’t see how we can move on if we are the only ones that are being attacked,” she added.
Yingluck was speaking outside a court where she is being tried for criminal negligence over a rice-pledging scheme, which caused huge damage to the country.
