Deputy national police chief Pol General Srivara Ransibhramanakul on Thursday said the military would hand over nine suspects allegedly involved in the recent weapons raid in Pathum Thani to the police on Friday.
Police will ask a court for the first 12-day detention period to enable intensive interrogation.
Red-shirt leader Wuttipong “Ko Tee” Kottham-makhun and his associates are accused of possessing military weapons and criminal association.
The police on the weekend announced the discovery of a large cache of weapons found in a building linked to Wuttipong in Pathum Thani.
The suspects are accused of stockpiling the weapons in connection with an assassination plot targeting senior government officials.
Srivara added that authorities could not do anything about the online radio show Wuttipong hosts because it airs from another country.
However, the Department of Special Investigation was working with the Royal Police Technology Crime Suppression division to close the operation.
