The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will waive fares for passengers aged over 60 during April 13 to 15 from 6am until midnight to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons and the Songkran Festival.
During that period, senior citizens can present their Thai national ID cards at the MRTA ticket booths to collect one free coupon to enter the swing gate’s special channel to take a free ride on the MRT Blue Line (Chaloem Ratchamongkhon) and the MRT Purple Line (Chalong Ratchadham).
The MRTA will also deploy more security guards and sniffer dogs at stations from April 5-18 and has prepared rescue teams around the clock, as part of intensified security measures for Songkran.
