Phichit police chief Pol Maj-General Jaruay Polprasert said on Monday that police had shown the victim photos of football players from 25 local teams to help her identify her attackers. The teams had participated in a football competition on April 15, and then joined water fights after the matches.

The victim, while playing water with her friends, was approached by six to seven teenagers who grabbed her and pulled her into a four-door black Isuzu pickup truck in which one teenager tried to rape her.

The victim’s friends threatened to call police at the venue, and the other teenagers told the assailant to let the girl go.

Jaruay added that police waiting for the results from a medical examination of the victim.
