THE National Legislative Assembly’s law-vetting committee will start deliberation on the first chapter of the national strategy organic law tomorrow before moving on to the composition of the proposed committee, panel spokesperson General Suchat Nongbua said.
The organic law is one of two significant laws addressed for the first time in the charter to guide the country with a long-term strategy and reform path. The other is the national reform organic law.
The proposed composition of the national strategy “super-board” is controversial as it would see all armed forces chiefs sitting with representatives of other sectors.
Government figures, including Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, said that they were needed to take care of security-related strategies for the country. Suchat said the proposed composition included representatives from the civil sector.
It is also open to public participation through hearings ahead of the panel’s deliberation on the law, he said.
