The National Legislative Assembly’s law-vetting committee will start deliberations on the first chapter of the national strategy organic law on Monday before moving on to the composition of the proposed committee, panel spokesperson General Suchat Nongbua said.
The organic law is among the two significant laws addressed for the first time in the charter to guide the country with a long-term strategy and reform path. The other one is the national reform organic law.
Its proposed composition has become controversial as it would see all Armed Forces chiefs sitting along with representatives from other sectors.
Government figures, including Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, reasoned that they were needed to take care of security-related strategies for the country.
Suchat said the proposed composition included representatives from civil sector.
It is also open to public participation through hearings ahead of the committee’s deliberation of the law, he added.
