His Majesty the King has granted scholarships and classroom equipment worth Bt40 million to flood-affected schools in the South.
The 267 schools are expected to receive royal-funded desks and chairs by the end of this month.
Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Juntong presided over an opening ceremony on Tuesday to transport the equipment to schools in 10 southern provinces.
Apart from the items sent, HM the King also funded scholarships for students affected by the flooding in the South from 1 December 2016 to 12 February 2017.
The donations and scholarships worth Bt40 million came from the sale of greeting cards and journals with drawings by HM the King.
More than 11,115 sets of desks and chairs will be sent to the flood-affected schools by vocational colleges in the southern provinces.
Minister of Education Teerakiat Jareonsettasin said all of the desks and chairs were made of quality materials as per the wish of HM the King.
