Metropolitan police commissioner Pol Lt General Sanit Mahatavorn

Police are doing their best to gather evidence and information to catch the people behind the bomb attack at Phramongkutklao Hospital, Metropolitan police commissioner Pol Lt General Sanit Mahatavorn said on Tuesday.
Sanit said police would not rush into arresting somebody without sufficient evidence as they want to ensure that they get the real attackers.
“Police may have to be slow but sure to make sure that the real culprits are prosecuted,” he said.
A bomb exploded in a reception room in the Army hospital on the third anniversary of the coup.
Police have set up an investigative committee to probe the explosion.
“Evidence is important. Which one is better, to arrest first although evidence is not solid, or wait until the evidence is solid and arrest,” Sanit said.
Police have already requested footage from security cameras in the hospital in their hunt for the people who brought a green vase into the room which had explosives hidden inside. Sanit said it is lucky that somebody had taken a photo of the vase in the room just five minutes before the explosion.
The vase was seen in a photo attached to a wall of the room.
Sanit also called for the pubic to alert police if they have information on the attackers or see any unusual behaviour or items.
