Alarm was raised at Phramongkutklao Hospital on Wednesday after a black backpack was found abandoned on the first floor of the Chalermprakiat building that was hit by a bomb blast on Monday.
The area was sealed off and bomb squad and K9 unit officers were deployed. However, an X-ray scan found only clothes inside the bag.
It is believed that the bag was left unintentionally and officials are waiting for the owner to claim their belonging.
Hospital deputy director Colonel Dr Surasak Tanusintum said Wednesday some broken security cameras at the hospital, where 25 people were injured in Monday’s explosion, have already been fixed, At the time of the explosion, about 12 cameras were out of order.
In the wake of the attack, safety measures have been tightened to ensure security, he said. The measures included checking the bags and belongings of people coming in and out of the hospital.
Surasak called for the public’s patience as they could face some inconvenience.
Surasak said that of the 25 people injured in the blast, four remained in the hospital with one in ICU and three others had already returned home. The person in ICU suffered from a broken jaw and was recovering.
