Officers on a Thai Navy patrol boat detained a Vietnamese fishing vessel and its crew for allegedly fishing in Thai waters off Nakhon Si Thammarat province without a permit.
The Vietnamese vessel Kg 62151 TS, with its captain and 10 crewmembers, was escorted to Songkhla Navy port.
Navy vessel Tor 111 from the Second Naval Area Command was on a routine patrol when it was spotted the fishing boat about 40 nautical miles north of Kra Island off Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Investigation showed that the ship was from Vietnam’s Kien Giang province and had been fishing near Kra Island for three days before being arrested.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand will be notified and the crew sent to Songkhla Court to face charges. They will later be deported.
