A dolphin that’s been drawing crowds of admirers since last Friday as it swims up and down Surat Thani’s Tapi River and branch canals needs to be guided back to the sea, residents say.
Residents of Mueang district called on the authorities to help the stray dolphin find its way back to the Gulf.
People continued crowding onto Si Surar Bridge in Tambon Bang Koong on Thursday to get a glimpse of the unusual visitor.
Residents said the dolphin had been observed all week in the river and along Klong Bang It and Klong Tha Thong. It did not appear frightened by the presence of people, they said, and would approach boats carrying people into the river and canals to see it.
Residents fear the dolphin might be harmed by the boats that use the river and canals daily.
