Labour Ministry is considering a minimum daily wage hike to at least Bt400 for workers in the fishery sector in 12 provinces, Labour Inspector-General Suthi Sukosol said on Wednesday.
To solve the labour shortage in the fishery industry and curb illegal activities, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul has instructed related officials to discuss the wage hike with fishery business owners in Phuket, Songkhla, Trang, Trat, Surat Thani, Chon Buri, Ranong, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Samut Prakan, Pattani and Krabi.
The meetings resulted in a proposal for a monthly wage of Bt12,000 and for a wage committees to consider increasing the daily wage to at least Bt400, he said.
