Bangkok’s Ratchadapisek Criminal Court on Friday launched the “Daffodil flower from heart for King Bhumibol” project, which runs from June 9 until September 9, to produce 9,999 funeral flowers for ceremonies marking the cremation of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October.
The project launch was presided over by Chief Justice of the Criminal Court Supat Suthimanas.

Supat’s deputy, Wittaya Boonchaiwattana, said during the opening speech that the court had sent its 10 officials to learn how to make the daffodil-shaped funeral flowers from experts to train participants and members of the public. Training sessions will be held from 9.30am to 4pm on weekdays until September 9, at the court’s second-floor hall, he added.
About 1,000 residents from Narathiwat’s 13 districts joined forces at the City Hall on Friday to volunteer in making funeral flowers from Sa Paper and rubber tree leaves. It is part of the southern border province’s aim to get 99,999 flowers in nine patterns for use during ceremonies marking the late King Bhumibol’s cremation on October 26. The volunteer sessions will run until August 9.
