A SCANDAL-HIT school director has been transferred out of his top post at the famous Samsen Wittayalai School.
Wiroj Samruang, who is accused of demanding “tea money” from parents in exchange for a place in his prestigious |institute, will have to work at Bangkok’s Secondary Educational Service Area 1 Office for an indefinite period.
Office of Basic Education Commission secretary general Karoon Sakulpradit said yesterday he had ordered the transfer of Wiroj.
“His transfer will facilitate the probe into the allegation and ease conflicts over the scandal,” he said.
Karoon made the decision on the |transfer, after discussing the matter with Education Minister Teerakiat Jaroensettasin.
Samsen Wittayalai School is one of the most popular schools in Thailand.
A video clip, which appeared in social media earlier this week, suggested that Wiroj demanded Bt400,000 from a |parent in exchange for a guaranteed seat at the school.

The clip has generated an uproar and prompted an inquiry.
To date, Wiroj has denied any wrongdoing.
He admitted that he was the |person in the clip but insisted that he did not take any money from the parent.
